Student Orientation Advisement and Registration (SOAR)

The first SOAR session for new transfers attending the College this fall will be held on May 7th

The College at Brockport offers Student Orientation, Advisement and Registration (SOAR) programs designed especially for new transfer students and for students accepted for readmission who are returning to Brockport after an absence of one or more semesters. The purpose of the SOAR program is to give you the best introduction we can to the policies, programs, facilities and services available to assist you in your transition to Brockport, and most important, to help you select your courses for your first semester.

 During the SOAR program, you'll:
  • receive comprehensive personalized academic advisement from faculty members in your field of interest.
  • register for your first semester classes.
  • receive information on topics such as financial aid, intercollegiate athletics, clubs and organizations, career services, student employment, campus safety, and support services.
  • have an opportunity for members of your family to talk with faculty and staff.
  • get to know and feel comfortable with The College at Brockport campus.
Transfers are strongly encouraged to attend a SOAR program. For a few of you, other commitments may make a trip to Brockport impossible.  We will hold a new student registration/orientation program on the Friday before each semester (August 26, 2011 for fall 2011).  Delaying until then means a few lines and more limited course availability, but it's workable, and we will give you the same assistance and guidance in selecting your course schedule. This final registration program is designed primarily to meet the needs of late admits.

To sign up for SOAR: Enter The College at Brockport’s homepage at www.brockport.edu.  In the top right corner of the page, click on the "Quick Links" drop-down menu, then the Web Banner link and follow the instructions on how to log in. Once logged in, select the Student Services link, then Admissions, then select Transfer SOAR Reservation.
